Torres' Take: The Latest in Oregon Recruiting Ahead of Massive Weekend (2024)

Dan Lanning and the Oregon coaching staff have been hosting a lot of serious talent for visits this month and things will only get more intense as they head into their biggest recruiting weekend of the month.

Here's some of the latest buzz and intel I'm hearing from the trail.

Jordan Ross

Ross is one of Oregon's biggest defensive targets in the 2024 class and he was actually scheduled to be on campus in Eugene today but there were some travel issues that prevented the trip. Not a great development, but certainly worth sharing.

I think getting his Mom on board with Oregon will be an important next step considering the distance factor.

I've loved where the Ducks have stood since his last visit this spring and I think they're still serious contenders in his recruitment. I'm hearing that the plan now is to try and reschedule him for the Saturday Night Live camp at the end of next month.

Fans should also expect him to take his official visit to Oregon in the fall.

Ryan Pellum

Pellum is working from a top two of Oregon and USC and it's another Lanning vs. Riley battle here in the 2024 class.

I logged my prediction for USC, which may be a bit of a surprise given that he's taking his Oregon official this weekend. But the Trojans are doing much better with top local skill talent under Lincoln Riley and I think the appeal of staying at home will be too much to pass up.

That said, I expect this recruitment to come to an end soon and for the Ducks to go all in on Jeremiah McClellan, who will be in Eugene this weekend along with Oregon wide receiver commit Jordan Anderson.

Elijah Rushing

Rushing is fresh off his official visit to Oregon and I still really like where the Ducks stand.

He'll head to Knoxville for what looks to be his final official visit to Tennessee on Friday. There's been chatter of a commitment coming after he wraps up his official visits and I think the Ducks should be viewed as the team to beat.

He released a top 12 in November, but I think Oregon has separated themselves from the pack along with Tennessee and Arizona. His younger brother transferred from Florida to Arizona recently, but I don't think the family appeal carries as much weight as some may think.

We'll wait for an official date for a decision, but I still think Oregon sits in the driver's seat.

Nate Frazier

Frazier is another top target that just took his official visit with the Ducks.

While out at the Elite 11 and OT7 this week I heard some very strong buzz for Georgia, as he also took a recent visit to Athens. Georgia, Oregon and Alabama seem to be his unofficial top three, but there's no commitment date set right now.

He'll head to Alabama for his official visit this weekend, but the Ducks are doing all they can to stay alive. I'm told his trip to Eugene went very well last weekend, but I'm not sure how much stock we can put into that because what trips don't go well for the Ducks? That, and him being a top player at his position makes me think this will be a battle until the very end. Texas A&M also looks to be in the mix, but I don't think they're as much of a threat.

All in all, if I had to guess I'd say he's trending toward Georgia, but full transparency, this has been a very tough recruitment to get a beat on.

Kamar Mothudi

Mothudi is closing in on a decision at the end of this month or early July and I still think Oregon has the best chance to land his commitment. He took recent visits to Utah, Michigan State and Washington and will head to Oregon for his official visit this weekend.

I think Michigan State made a really solid impression, but I don't have any reason to movemy pickoff of Oregon, which I made on March 22. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the first linebacker to hop in the fold for 2024 sooner rather than later.
